September 18, 2015
Harald Krueger, the chief executive of BMW, collapsed on stage at the Frankfurt Motor Show, forcing the company to suspend its press conference. The 49-year-old chief fainted at his first appearance as head of the car giant, after taking over from Norbert Reithofer in May 2015.
The Frankfurt Motor show is one of the car industry’s major events held in Germany, the home of many car manufacturers. Krueger, the CEO of Munich-based BMW, was taken off stage by two assistants after collapsing prompting the company to end the presentation.
BMW’s Max-Morten Borgmann said in a statement: “At the BMW Group Press Conference the Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW Group, Harald Krüger, experienced a moment of dizziness.”
“As a result, the Press Conference was cancelled in order that Mr Krüger could be examined by a doctor. Mr Krüger’s health is stable and he is recovering well.”
According to BMW, Mr Krüger was feeling unwell ahead of the conference. He presented the new BMW 7 Series Sedan at the popular car show.
